crimeScene 2014 save the date!

It’s been a while since we’ve been active on the webpage, however we wanted to let you know it hasn’t all been in vain!

We are pleased to announce that crimeScene 2014 will be held on the 11th and 12th of October and will once again be held at the Rydges Hotel in Perth. Further details are currently being worked out, but we are excited about some of the ideas being thrown around for the scientific stream.

We are lucky to have once again secured the services of Hadyn Green and Simon Lewis, our dynamic scientific due and are looking forward to the presentations they will bring to us this year.

We are currently in negotiations with our author reps and hope to be able to update you soon with regard to what is happening here.

Aside from that, we have also been in discussions with local authors for ideas for the writing stream. The suggestions that have been put forth so far are very impressive, the programme this year is either going to make you squeal with delight, or make you want to cry from all the spectacular panels on offer!

Feel free to drop us a line if you have queries, suggestions or ideas you want us to consider. We look forward to hearing from you!

Just a gentle reminder that if you were looking to be booking a hotel room for Crimescene, this needs to be done either through the hotel or the committee by the 10th of September, to ensure you get Crimescene’s rate. After this, rooms will be released back to general sales and there cannot be a guarantee that you will get a room or Crimescene’s rate. Please remember to say you will be attending Crimescene if you book through the hotel direct!

Into the Lead Up

Our site keeps trying to give our organising committee a heart attack as it counts down how close crimeScene is now. It keeps telling us there is only a month to go!

We’ve had such a large amount of news, it’s hard to know where to start right now!

We have been working so hard to bring you a spectacular line up. We are in the process of confirming a few more guests, after which point of time, it will hopefully be all systems go. Be sure to have a look at our guests, there are some incredibly talented people in their fields who will be coming along to present at crimeScene.

Speaking of our presenters, we have a draft programme available for viewing! Check out the programme tab! Please keep in mind, this is still a work in progress as we are still in negotiations, and so the programme has the potential to change as we try to work around our final few guests. At this point of time though, the committee are incredibly pleased with our line-up and hope there is something there which will entice you to be as excited as we are!

Hotel negotiations are close to finalised. If you are thinking of booking a room for crimeScene, and are booking direct with the hotel, don’t forget to mention that you will be attending crimeScene so that you get the special rate of $180/night. This is the room only rate, breakfast will be an additional $20 per person. Otherwise, please contact the organising committee and we can get a room organised for you.

7 weeks to go, we are all systems go. Don’t forget to buy your memberships early to avoid disappointment, as we will be capping our memberships, We’re buzzing with excitement, and look forward to seeing you there!

Crime Fiction recommendations

Have you been into Stefen’s Books lately to pick up an excellent crime novel? Have a look at what is being recommended!

From Stefen’s Books:
Here’s one for Crime fans!

I’ve managed to secure a couple of copies of one of my favourite crime novels, “The Skull Mantra” by Elliot Pattinson.

Set in modern day Tibet, it weaves Tibetan Mysticism, Chinese party politics and the plunder of Tibetan resources into a compelling mystery that has been compared to “Gorky Park” for its powerful sense of place and gripping narrative.
